Why I am Speaking Up

I have made a substantial financial investment in Shandaken. As this comparison shows, my property taxes exceed the combined property taxes paid by the current Town Board. While paying more taxes does not make my opinion more important, it does demonstrate that I have a significant stake in the Town’s future.

The Town has already lost a valuable member of the Building Department, along with dedicated volunteers who have served on Town boards. My concern is that, without meaningful changes, the remaining experienced staff and volunteers may also choose to leave. Shandaken cannot afford to lose more good people. Retaining qualified employees and committed volunteers, restoring confidence in Town government, and improving accountability should be immediate priorities.

I am speaking up because I want Shandaken to be well-governed, accountable, and transparent—for full-time residents, second-home owners, businesses, and future generations alike.
